What you will learn
This course examines the processes and structures which create, administer and change the law. Discussions surrounding current legal affairs are encouraged and lead to lively classes on issues surrounding crimes, the judiciary and legislation. There are educational visits to places of interest such as local courts, The Supreme Court and Old Bailey in London. Additionally, there are visits to Parliament and participation in local debates. Guest speakers often attend classes to speak to students such as local solicitors, magistrates, the CPS and students attend A-level law conferences at Swansea University and law masterclasses at the University of South Wales.

Successful students have progressed to study law and other legal-related disciplines at undergraduate level at several Russell Group universities, including Cardiff, Exeter, Bristol and Queen Mary, London. A number have further progressed into the legal profession and are currently employed as solicitors and barristers in successful legal firms, chambers and at the Crown Prosecution Service. Others have entered into business: corporate and independent, teaching, the police and the civil service. All students are fully supported by the law department to compile their personal statements for university applications, with LNAT practice, and with interview techniques.
A former student achieved an A grade in law and graduated with a first class degree in law in Exeter University and is now a successful solicitor and director at a local legal firm in Llanelli. Another graduated with a degree in law from Swansea University, having studied A-level law with us and has gone on to become a partner in a leading commercial law firm in Bristol. Another former A Level Law student studied Law at Swansea University and is now a Superintendent in the Dyfed-Powys Police force.
More recently, a student who attained an A* grade in college, is currently employed as a paralegal at a local firm of solicitors whilst also studying on the Legal Practice Course at Swansea with the aim of qualifying as a lawyer: a different pathway to reducing debt, whilst getting the same high level qualifications.
