Whether you dream of singing, dancing, or acting on stage, Coleg Sir Gâr’s Musical Theatre Academy offers hands-on training with industry professionals, cutting-edge facilities, and a vibrant community of fellow performers. This is your chance to turn your passion into a career, with opportunities to perform in live productions to develop your skills in a supportive environment. You will learn dance routines in a range of styles from your favourite shows, sharpen your vocal abilities, master choreography, and bring characters to life on stage. Run by Hayley Gallivan, a West-End professional with credits of Elphaba in Wicked (Apollo Theatre), and Martha in Spring Awakening (Novello Theatre), including their reunion performance in Victoria Palance, London.

Students will have additional performance opportunities, which will involve auditions, with casting determined by the style of the piece. As part of the Musical Theatre Academy programme, students take part in various workshops with industry professionals such as Jack Philp Dance and Linzi Richards Dance, and have access to professional-standard rehearsal rooms, including the sprung-floor dance studio, mirrored wall, ballet barres, Forge Fitness Suite and Forge Theatre. This is where your passion meets professional excellence!

Music Performance Academy

The Music Academy offers our learners excellent extra-curricular activities. Both ‘Jazz’ and ‘Band’ academies take place each Wednesday afternoon. The diversity of our academies allows students to achieve their ambitions in whichever discipline they choose to follow.

The Music Academy provides a varied enrichment programme that supports ongoing musical development. Students have the chance to work within the college live recording studios as well as using state of the art software and technology.  Students also have the opportunity to perform at Regional and National events tutored by industry professionals.

Every year we have talks and workshops as part of the Music Academy programme delivered by internationally renowned musicians as well as alumni of Coleg Sir Gâr.

Choir

The College Sir Gâr Choir takes pride in its rapidly expanding reputation within Carmarthenshire and further afield, and is frequently invited to perform at prestigious events. Directed by industry specialists, Choir meets every Wednesday afternoon and is open to students across the entire college from all levels and areas of study.

The repertoire consists predominately of Contemporary Musical Theatre with a focus on close harmonies and high energy, physical performance through song. In addition, Welsh songs are in our standard repertoire.

If you would like to make new friends and develop new skills in a fun and creative environment, Choir may be the answer and we welcome all students!
