Agriculture Level 3 (College Course)

This two-year agriculture course focuses on developing the core skills you are required to have by employers in the agriculture industry, such as safe working practices, livestock husbandry, crop production and operating agricultural machinery as well as business skills. They enable you to progress onto degree level courses in this or related subjects.
You will also be required to complete an eight week work placement within your first year of study.
As part of the programme learners will also study towards the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales qualification.
This course is a full-time level three course which is equivalent to A-level standard.

You could after finishing: -
- Study for a Level 4 Foundation Degree
- Enrol on a BSc Degree Programme
- Become an Apprentice on a Farm
- You might progress into work as a Herdsperson/Herd Manager, Agricultural Technician, calf or stock rearer, Machine Operator
Assessment of the course includes externally set formal exams, written assessments and practical assessments aimed to test your knowledge and practical skills.
This qualification is available to be assessed through the medium of Welsh and English.
All applicants need to have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C, to include both mathematics and English language or Welsh (first language).
Or you will have achieved a merit/distinction grade in a relevant level two qualification plus two GCSEs at grades A* to C in mathematics and English language or Welsh (first language)
Entry is normally subject to interview which will show an aptitude to agriculture. Some experience of practical farming is essential.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
Learners are expected to provide their own steel toe capped wellington boots, safety boots, overalls and waterproofs for practical sessions.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
