Programme Description

This course covers the regular operator maintenance required for petrol driven chainsaws in workshop and field conditions, including start procedures and pre-work checks and cross cutting. Also covered in this course is how to identify, inspect and comment on key parts of the chainsaw, how to prepare the chainsaw to work safely without risk to the operator, other people or the environment.

Learners will gain understanding on how to carry out daily routine maintenance on the chainsaw, how to operate the chainsaw safely, efficiently and comfortably in accordance with the practical risk assessment. As well as, how to operate the chainsaw to work safely without risk to the operator, other people or the environment and how to identify the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a work site.

This course is designed for people who wish to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills and require proof of competence within their field of expertise. It doesn’t matter if they are entering a place of work or have already established themselves in a role. Learners may already be using their skills across a range of trees and timber operations however, this qualification will enable them to become a more confident worker meeting the current standards of good working practice.

Learners could progress onto other modules once they have achieved a certificate of completion for this course.
