Programme Description
This course will help learners to identify the symptoms of the different diseases and conditions which lead to lameness. This is a practical hands on training course. Learners participating on this course will receive training on various topics including identifying lesions, understanding of lesions, why they occur, how to cure them, how to prevent them, safe working, practices, knife sharpening, use of blocks if required and use of correct tools.
At the end of this course learners will undertake a practical assessment to further reinforce their knowledge, skills and confidence in the subject of cattle foot trimming.
This course is tailored towards both farmers and learners wishing to become professional hoof trimmers. The ability to carry out cattle trimming has become essential to farmers as lame cows could cost considerably more money. This course goes into specific detail of everything you need to carry out cattle trimming to a professional level.
Following completion of this course, learners may progress onto an advanced foot trimming course.
