From first cuts to fully felling a tree, this course will show learners everything they need to know about using a chainsaw.

Programme Description
Topics covered in this course include identifying the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a worksite, assess the trees to be felled for hazards and risks, make accurate felling cuts in the correct positions, handle and stack timber in a safe manner. Select and use hand tools safely, identifying health and safety features on a chainsaw, cross-cut timber accurately to required lengths and assessing and explaining the terms ‘tension’ and ‘compression’ in timber.
Learners taking this course will gain knowledge and confidence needed to handle a chainsaw safely and effectively. With practical sessions learners will be able to develop and hone their skills at chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting and felling and processing of trees up to 380mm.
This course is designed for learners looking to work in or may already work in a role that requires chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting and felling and processing of trees up to 380mm. This role could apply to various industries including Forestry, Woodland, Agriculture, Conservation, Horticulture and Construction.
