Agriculture Level 2 (College Course)

This course is aimed at those who have some experience of practical farming.
It has elements of both plant and animal science, animal husbandry, machinery and environmental aspects through estate skills, which shows the wide range of knowledge needed to work within a farming business.
You will take part in a mixture of practical and classroom teaching.
As part of the course there is a compulsory work experience element which will help develop skills and improve employment within the land-based industry.
As part of the programme, learners will also complete numeracy and literacy essential skill qualifications. Opportunities will also be provided for GCSEs in English and maths, which will be essential to continue onto level three.

Successful completion of the course at merit level or above will qualify students to progress to other courses at level three. The course gives comprehensive practical training for those who wish to enter practical farming and provides an excellent base knowledge for apprenticeships.
Assessment of the course includes externally set formal exams, written assessments and practical assessments aimed to test your knowledge and practical skills.
This qualification is available to be assessed through the medium of English only.
- A level one qualification at a merit level or above or
- Four GCSEs at grades A* to E with at least one GCSE at grade A* to C in Welsh, English or mathematics.
- You must also have a successful interview and show a passion for agriculture and have the appropriate agricultural experience.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
Learners are expected to provide their own steel toe capped wellington boots, safety boots, overalls and waterproofs for practical sessions.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
