HND Electrical / Electronic Engineering (College Course)
- Graig Campus
Studying electrical engineering offers a wide range of opportunities and a vast career and provides a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and engineering principles.
The emphasis throughout the course is student focused, task orientated learning with plenty of scope for practical assignment work. Wherever possible projects, which are carried out in the second year, are to be industrially based with full involvement of industrial supervisors. This is a well-established, three year part-time course, that provides a thorough grounding in all aspects of electrical and electronic engineering and combines the hardware and software subject areas demanded by the industry.
There is one intermediate award which is the HNC. This award can be achieved after two years of part-time study which can be upgraded to a HND after a further year of part-time study. Students are normally enrolled on the HNC first and have the opportunity to return to upgrade to the HND. The HND can also be achieved in two years by full-time study. Having achieved the HND, students will then have the opportunity to upgrade to a full honours degree with a further two years of part time study.
