Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
Introduction
Our ambition at Coleg Sir Gâr / Coleg Ceredigion is to create an inclusive place to work and study, one that is characterised by Unity between all of our community. Where there is a sense of equity, diversity, and a sense of belonging between all of our stakeholders.
We are committed to creating an environment where diversity is celebrated and everyone is treated fairly, regardless of gender, gender identity, disability, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or transgender status, age, or nationality.
We are committed to providing a trans-inclusive environment for all our staff, students, partners and visitors, which supports trans, non-binary and people with other identities. We will achieve this through continually reviewing our policies and the guidance and training we provide.
We have been awarded the Disability Confident Employer symbol by Jobcentre Plus.
This status identifies those employers who have agreed to take a set of actions around the recruitment, retention, and career development of disabled people and those with health conditions.
We signed the Time to Change pledge in January’23 after completing our self assessment and action, signalling our commitment to helping raise awareness and to tackle the stigma around mental health for our staff and students.
Time to Change is a Welsh government-supported programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination.
As part of the pledge, we have created an action plan that includes a campaign to raise awareness for staff and students, and training for line managers and frontline staff.
The Black Leadership Group FE exists to challenge systemic racism for the benefit of all Black communities and the wider UK society as a whole, to be the authoritative voice of Anti-racism in F/HE, schools, public, voluntary, and private sectors, and to further the interests of people from ethnically diverse backgrounds who share a lived experience of the effects of racism.
In affiliation with the Black Leadership Group FE, we have completed a self-assessment and an Anti Racist Action Plan in signalling our commitment to being an anti-racist college for all of our community.
At Coleg Sir Gâr / Coleg Ceredigion, we value and celebrate the racial and ethnic diversity within our community and are committed to being an anti-racist institution.
Our goal is to promote equitable opportunities and outcomes for all our staff and students, and we have a zero tolerance for racism and discrimination of any kind.
We are focusing heavily on being a truly anti-racist organisation, and are affiliated as part of the Black Leadership Group who are supporting us along with all other FEIs in Wales in developing their Anti Racism Action Plan.
