Welding is a fascinating and essential process that brings together craftsmanship and the precision of engineering.
This programme provides practical welding and fabrication skills development as well as theoretical knowledge covering: manual metal arc welding, tungsten arc gas shielded welding, metal arc gas shielded welding, oxy-acetylene welding, fabrication of steel, oxy/acetylene cutting and engineering drawing.
This level 3 Fabrication and Welding learning programme follows a City and Guilds 60 credit level 3 Diploma and the Essential Skills Wales units where applicable.

This course builds upon the introductory units covered at level two fabrication and welding course level, to extend existing knowledge and introduce new concepts and subject areas, including: the principles of fabrication and welding, engineering principles, and practice and template and pattern development.
This programme contributes to the Modern Apprenticeship Framework, recognised by employers.
Progressing from a welding course opens up a world of opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding and related fields.
Assessment is based upon completion of practical competence exercises, theoretical based assignments and externally set examinations.
This qualification is available to be assessed through the medium of English only.
This course would normally be a follow-on from the successful completion of an NVQ level 2 and the City and Guilds 2850 level 2 course.
All engineering full-time courses which include mechanical, electrical/electronic/fabrication and welding and motor vehicle, are fully funded.
The learner will also be required to provide their own stationery and basic classroom equipment appropriate to their course (eg pens and a calculator).
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
