What you will learn

The programme features a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, covering health and safety, electrical system installation, and fault diagnosis. It culminates in the AM2S assessment to ensure all apprentices meet the industry standards for a qualified electrician.

Upon completion, apprentices can apply for the Electrical Installation Gold card, progress to Level 4/5 qualifications, higher apprenticeships, or advance to roles such as Technician, Project Manager, or Chartered Engineer.

The programme includes qualifications, essential skills (communication, numeracy, digital literacy), and extensive on/off-the-job training totaling 7992 hours.

Assessment includes practical tasks, knowledge tests, and the AM2S end-assessment.

Costs may include personal protective equipment, textbooks, and AM2S assessment fees. Employers and training providers often cover these expenses, but apprentices should confirm this at the start.

Candidates must be aged 16+, employed in the trade area, and meet specific entry assessments or qualifications (e.g., GCSEs, relevant vocational qualifications). Prior achievement of certain qualifications may exempt learners from specific core modules.

GCSE grades C or above in a communication based subject, numerical based subject and technical based subject.
