This Pathway, endorsed by the CITB Steering Group and approved for Welsh Government funding, prepares individuals for a career in Site Carpentry. It includes mandatory qualifications, essential skills training, and both on- and off-the-job learning, aimed at achieving competence and recognition as a qualified Site Carpenter.

What you will learn
The programme covers essential skills in communication, numeracy, and digital literacy, along with comprehensive site carpentry training. Apprentices will develop practical skills in first and second fixing, structural carcassing, and roof construction. The programme integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Graduates can apply for the CSCS Advanced Craft card and pursue roles such as Site Carpenter, Workshop Supervisor, or Site Manager. Further progression includes higher apprenticeships or academic study in related fields.
The curriculum includes qualifications in site carpentry, essential skills, and a significant amount of on/off-the-job training totalling 2786 hours on the job and 775 hours off the job.
Assessment involves practical tasks, knowledge tests, and continuous evaluation through coursework and on-site performance reviews.
Additional costs may include personal protective equipment, textbooks, and assessment fees. Employers and training providers typically cover these, but apprentices should verify at the start.
Applicants must be aged 16+ and currently employed in the trade. Suitable candidates will have completed a Foundation or Progression qualification in Construction, a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in a related trade, or have at least three years of verifiable trade experience.
GCSE grades D or above in a communication based subject, numerical based subject and technical based subject.
