Programme Description

Learner must reside legally in Wales and be aged 19 years old or over.

In addition, individuals must be:

  • employed (including Agency and Zero-hours contracts) or

  • self-employed or

  • full-time carers (incl. non-paid)

There is no funding wage cap for this course.

The course will cover the requirements of BS7671 with regards to the new section on electrical vehicle charging points, discussing how the electrical supply can be delivered from both private and public supplies. By the end of the course you will understand how to install these points in compliance with BS7671.

As well as gaining EAL accreditation, you will also become familiar with Rolec equipment, Britain’s leading electric vehicle charging point manufacturer, and obtain a Rolec certificate.

Practically, candidates must be able to install and terminate SWA cable and carry out an Initial Verification on an electrical installation and complete all of the associated paperwork.

The EAL and Rolec certificates will enable successful candidates to install electric vehicle charging points and apply for the OLEV funding, enabling a grant of £350 for each installation.
