This 3 day course will enable candidates to select the most appropriate solar Photovoltaic system for a property to meet the client’s needs and to commission and handover the system. It will also provide an understanding of all the legal issues surrounding the installation of these systems and guidance on completion and submission of all the appropriate notifications.

Programme Description
Learner must reside legally in Wales and be aged 19 years old or over.
In addition, individuals must be:

employed (including Agency and Zero-hours contracts) or
-
self-employed or
-
full-time carers (incl. non-paid)
There is no funding wage cap for this course.
This course has been developed with the aim of providing electricians with the skills and knowledge required to install small scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. The course has been structured to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards and is recognised as a demonstration of competence for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
The course and manual covers:
- Photovoltaic panels in context of renewable technologies
- How a Photovoltaic system works - principles and components
- Design of a PV system
- Installation of a PV system
- Commissioning and Client Hand Over
- Maintenance and Fault Finding
- Control and power requirements
- System commissioning and handover to client
Trainees must hold a formal craft qualification e.g. NVQ 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent earlier certification that includes Inspection & Testing or a recognised Part P competence certification that includes Inspection & Testing.
After successfully completing this course (and any prerequisites that you may not already have) you will have the skills to install Solar PV (Photovoltaic) panels, so a new way to generate income. You will also be able to demonstrate competence for MCS which provides you with exceptional opportunities to position your business as a quality, reputable renewable energy installer at the forefront of this growing industry.
