The level one Diploma in Introduction to Health and Social Care (Adults and Children and Young People), Early Years and Childcare (Wales) is suitable for learners who wish to work in the health and social care and early years and childcare sectors. This course is suitable for learners who wish to gain confidence in further education study and explore the childcare route. This qualification is suitable for you if you are considering a career in caring for children.

What you will learn

Learners will be in for three days a week to learn and develop their knowledge and understanding of working in the care sector.

You will be given the opportunities to develop your literacy, numeracy and your digital capabilities within this course and you will complete the diploma qualification within one year. 

Successful completion of this course may lead you onto a level two course.

The qualification will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks such as designing charts or leaflets, coursework or methods such as oral questioning. 

Entry is dependent on a selection interview. Entry for students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Curriculum Area depending on written evidence of previous study/ learning. You should be at least 16 years old. 

All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.

You will need to provide your own stationery, and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits
