Access to HE - Health Care (College Course)

  • Graig Campus
1 Year

An Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is a well established Level 3 qualification which prepares students for study at degree level and is widely accepted by all universities. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, or you are thinking of a career change, then an Access to HE course could be for you.

The Access Healthcare Diploma could be the pathway to a career in nursing and other healthcare related courses. If you are interested in adult nursing, mental health nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, paramedic science, to name but a few, then this is an excellent pathway.

This full time course involves three days of lectures in college and combines the disciplines of the sciences and maths, together with the academic and presentation skills required for studying health-related courses at university.

The course requires a commitment to attend; an ability and determination to meet strict deadlines; and for independent study. You will need to arrange your work and family commitments around your college studies and will be asked how you will manage this in interview.

You will study a range of topics to gain the relevant academic subject knowledge needed for Higher Education study as well as the opportunity to develop study skills to help you to succeed. You will be assessed through a range of methods including essays, time-constrained assessments, presentations, observation of practical work and reports.

There are advisors who can help with applications for financial or academic support for those students who need it.
