  • Online
1 year full-time and 2 years part-time

Working with animals can be a rewarding career choice for individuals who have a passion for animals and their welfare. There are various job opportunities available in this field, ranging from hands-on animal care to research, charity work and conservation.

Many students, including mature students who want to change careers, start with this course and choose to progress to either the animal science or animal behaviour and welfare university level courses at the college or it can be used as a stand-alone qualification.

The animal science level four certificate is offered via distance learning and is 100% studied online, full time and part time.

This course provides the opportunity for students wishing to study via distance learning to develop core knowledge and key skills required for undergraduates aiming to, or already working in animal related industries.  The programme enables students to study at home at a time that suits them best to develop a range of skills, personal qualities and attitudes necessary to work successfully within the field of animal science.

The course allows students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in the scientific principles of animal ethology, behaviour and physiology, and the application of this knowledge to animal welfare, husbandry  and conservation.
