Introduction to Jewellery Making (Short courses and Adult Learning)

Suitable for beginners, this is a fun-filled intensive 10 week course in traditional jewellery methods using a range of base metals to learn the jewellery processes in chain making, culminating in making your finished piece in silver.

Making your own chain will enable you to personalise your work and allow you to wear the finished piece as a statement item or use it to display and enhance your other jewellery.

This  is an ideal way to learn some of the traditional skills of jewellery making, and give you lots of practice with your soldering.

Programme Description

In this class you will learn the basic skills to design and plan your own bespoke jewellery, how to make your own jump rings and links of all shapes and sizes, how to solder jump rings, create finished chains, texturing and cutting metal and links, experimenting with different chain designs from small and intricate to chunky and statement.

The course is held at the college’s Carmarthen School of art which teaches everything art and design, from printmaking to textiles and sculpture.

If you were under 19 years on the 1st of September 2023  the cost will only be £25.

Basic materials are supplied but your tutor will inform you of any additional materials you will need to purchase yourself.

Places are limited on each course to allow plenty of one-to-one tuition. If a course is fully subscribed when you apply, you will be placed on a reserve list and notified when a place becomes available.
