Introduction to Ceramics (Short courses and Adult Learning)

Imagine yourself on a potter’s wheel creating unique pieces of craft or hand building your own ceramic pieces to take home.

This course can offer you that freedom of creativity with plenty of support from your tutor in small groups, learning the basics of the ceramicist’s making skills, in a friendly and nurturing environment in the bespoke ceramics studios of Carmarthen School of Art.

Suitable for beginners, this course will open up an opportunity for you to express yourself with like-minded people on a campus that purely teaches all disciplines of art and design.

Programme Description

Due to demand, we have added an exciting additional ceramics evening class in creating glazed ceramics to follow on from our popular introduction to ceramics course.  You will build on the skills gained on the introduction to ceramics course, and learn the basics in ceramic design and research, throwing, coiling, slips, glaze techniques, glazes, slips and oxides, glaze application; dipping and spraying.

Using our bespoke ceramic studios, class size will be small to allow plenty of one to one tuition.

If you were under 19 years on 1st of September 2023 the cost will only be £25.

Basic materials are supplied. Your tutor will inform you of any additional materials you will need to purchase yourself.

Places are limited on each course to allow plenty of one-to-one tuition. If a course is fully subscribed when you apply, you will be placed on a reserve list and notified when a place becomes available.
