The 2 year course emphasises hands-on learning in a technical environment, focusing on:
- Production: Understanding and creating high-quality eSports content.
- Promotion: Marketing and promoting eSports events and content.
- Management: Overseeing individual and team-based content creation.

The eSports industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors within the UK’s video games industry. This course will immerse you in various facets of the creative industries tied to gaming, production, and immersive technologies. You will learn about the industry’s landscape, fan base, and the games that drive this exciting sector.
Participants will gain expertise in a broad spectrum of media-related subjects, including but not limited to:
- eSports Management: Organizing and managing eSports teams and events.
- Graphic and Digital Design: Creating visually appealing digital content.
- Streaming and Live Production: Broadcasting live eSports events.
- Audio/Visual Production: Sound design, filming, and camera work.
- Editing and Post-Production: Refining content to professional standards.
- Journalism Techniques: Reporting on eSports events and news.
- Team Building and Sports Etiquette: Fostering teamwork and professionalism.
- Script Writing: Crafting engaging narratives for eSports content.
- Pro-Gaming and Social Media: Enhancing gaming skills and leveraging social media platforms.
eSports Academy:
All learners will join our eSports Academy, allowing participation in various eSports games and competitive gaming scenes. The academy will also take part in numerous competitions, fostering a competitive spirit and practical experience.
We currently play in British Esports Student Champs tournaments competing in:
- Valorant
- Rocket League
- Overwatch
- League of Legends
- FIFA
Students wishing to be recruited to the college eSports team will be required to maintain 95%+ attendance and stay up to date with their coursework.
Collaborative Projects:
Engage with other departments such as music, media, and performing/production arts to create interdisciplinary projects, enhancing your creative and technical skills.
Industry Events and Competitions:
- Compete in eSports tournaments.
- Attend eSports events (e.g., eSports Insider).
- Visit major game conventions (e.g., UK Games Expo, EGX).
- Learn about eSports nutrition and fitness to maintain peak performance.
- You should be at least 16 years of age
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, or a Merit at UAL L2 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, or Level 2 BTEC Extended Diploma or equivalent
- GCSE English language grade C/4 or above is essential and GCSE Maths grade C/4 or above is highly desirable
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
You will be expected to provide yourself a set of headphones, SD card and memory stick at an estimated cost of £60.00 max.
