If you like creating creative content as a use for artistic expression and communication to engage audiences then this course is a step on the ladder to using digital media, film and video and animation.
This level two creative media course is designed to equip you with a range of high-level creative, practical and academic skills using industry-standard software.
The course will train you in the kind of creative flair that will take you on your first steps to employment within the creative computing sector or on the educational ladder to a level three qualification which is the requirement to enter at university level.

What you will learn
Using industry standard hardware and software you will be taught the latest techniques in creative subjects to extend your skills and provide vocational emphasis. You will also have the opportunity to take part in skills competitions, visits or listen to visiting speakers and experts at the college. You will also have the opportunity to partake in Welsh language and cultural activities.
You will have the opportunity to develop your literacy, numeracy and your digital capabilities. Opportunities will also be provided to improve grades in GCSE maths and English. Examples of units on the main qualification include:
Introducing Media Products and Audiences
This unit aims to allow learners to understand media institutions, how they work and the products they produce. Learners will understand production processes, target audiences, distribution and marketing through the analysis of media products.
Photography for Media products
By completing this unit learners will understand professional photographs used in media products. Learners will understand how to plan to take photographs for a specific media product, including how to take and edit a range of photographs. Learners will also understand how to review the final photographs produced.
Film and TV media products
By completing this unit learners will understand existing film and TV media products. Learners will be able to plan for the production of a two-minute segment, for an original film or TV media product. They will gain some practical skills by producing and editing their own footage.
All learners will follow a Skills Pathway in which they will develop their literacy and numeracy skills for employment. Students who do not yet have the necessary GCSE grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills Qualifications depending on prior GCSE grades.
The skills learned on this course open up opportunities to develop a career on the creative side of new media or IT, or a career towards managing the whole process. Learner progression could include further study on a level three creative media production or ICT course, an apprenticeship or employment. The level of progression will depend on the overall grade achieved in the qualification.
All of the units on the course are assessed via coursework assignments which are centre assessed and externally moderated by OCR. There are no exams.
4 GCSEs grades A* - D with 2 Cs, one being either English/Welsh (1st language) or maths. Or successful completion of a level one vocational qualification in a relevant subject at merit or above.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
