Programme Description

This course is an alternative to the IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Technician and is for technicians who are involved in the inspection, maintenance and repair of light vehicles. After completion of the course, learners will be able to calibrate emission test equipment before testing a vehicle, accurately inspect a vehicle, diagnose faults and correct repair requirements. Learners will gain knowledge of the appropriate wiring diagram required for the electrical systems of the vehicle being tested and have the skills to apply it.

This is a certificated course recognised by DVSA as a pre-entry accreditation to become an MOT tester.

The VTAA course is for individuals that are skilled in the motor trade but have no formal qualifications. This course is to help technicians without a Level 3 qualification to become qualified and proceed onto the MOT testers course.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners can progress onto the MOT Tester course.
