This is an opportunity for those working in the motor vehicle industry to update their skills and professional development to learn the skills required related to a vehicle’s air conditioning system.

EU legislation requires all technicians involved in the servicing, recharging and repairs to vehicle air conditioning in passenger cars and light vans to be certified to carry out this work. This Air Conditioning Refrigerant Handling course has been specifically designed for technicians carrying out work in relation to a vehicle’s air conditioning system.

Programme Description

This course contains essential knowledge on servicing of vehicle air conditioning systems. Participants completing this course will be able to identify all the main components of an automotive air conditions system and state their function and demonstrate safe working practices. As well as, complete a typical automotive air conditioning service and understand air conditioning service health and safety procedures.

This course is assessed through observation with a Coleg Sir Gar certificate once completed. On successful completion of this qualification, participants will hold a valid certificate to legally work on motor vehicles air conditioning systems.

This course is designed for vehicle technicians or anyone working with air conditioning systems within the automotive industry. This can include anything from garages, mobile mechanics, body shops, automotive dismantlers and dealerships.

Completing this course will mean the participant is compliant with EU legislation. This could lead to progression within the automotive industry. It could also open up avenues to further training such as hybrid or ADAS training.
