British Horse Society Stage 2 Coach Training (Short courses and Adult Learning, Level 1)

  • Pibwrlwyd Campus
10 weeks

This course is designed to prepare learners for the British Horse Society (BHS) Stage 2 ‘Foundation Coach’ examination.

The course will develop your knowledge and understanding in delivering a lesson including both flatwork and jumping. Flatwork will show an understanding of working with small groups of riders in walk, trot and canter working on balance and riding position, which may include work both with and without stirrups. You will also gain skills for delivering practical stable management sessions covering routine activities such as putting on a bridle, rug or grooming. You will understand coaching principles, how riders progress, how to introduce new subject matter and how to deal with problems.

The course will be undertaken at the Coleg Sir Gar BHS Approved Training Centre. The practical sessions will be delivered on the yard and the course will also include both theory lessons at the College as well as theory modules as guided online learning.

Please note - this course is a training opportunity only and does not include the BHS Stage 2 Coach qualification. Candidates will be required to book the assessment themselves with the British Horse Society.
