
This course includes the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first-aider and providing first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive. The qualification also covers how to administer first aid to an infant or a child with head and spinal injuries, who is choking or suffering from anaphylaxis.

Topics include:
• The roles and responsibilities of a first-aider
• Assessing an emergency situation safely
• CPR and AED
• Administering first aid to a choking infant or child
• Dealing with shock, scolds, bleeds, bites, stings and minor injuries
• Providing first aid to an infant or a child with anaphylaxis
• Dealing with casualties with fractures, and spinal or head injuries
This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry and it meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:
• Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)
• Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
