Mental ill health can have a huge impact on a person, their work environment, colleagues, managers and performance of the whole workforce. It is important that as a leader or manager, to take mental health issues seriously. It is a legal duty for all employers to not discriminate against disabled employees and applicants, including mental ill health, under the Disability Discrimination Act (2010). Mental health problems in the UK Workforce cost employers almost £35 billion a year. That’s £1300 cost for every employee in the UK economy, according to the Centre for Mental Health.

Programme Description

Topics covered include manager or leader responsibilities, what can negatively affect mental health, supporting mental ill health in the workplace, signs to look out for. Challenges to supporting mental health in the workplace, creating a safe and healthy work environment and how to talk and how to listen.

Assessed via an interactive quiz this two hour, easy to follow course with interactive exercises and immersive learning explores the leader or managers role in supporting individuals within the workplace.

This course is designed for individuals both inside and outside the workplace who want to understand more about mental health and steps to support someone struggling with their mental health or themselves.

Following completion of this course, learners can complete the online Mental Health Awareness for Managers, the Level 2 Award in Mental Health First Aid or the Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid for Supervisors.
