First prize ‘best ensemble’ win for performing and production arts students at the BBC It’s My Shout awards
On May 19 a group of students from performing and production arts headed to the It’s My Shout awards at the ICC Wales, Newport where they won Best Ensemble cast.
Coleg Sir Gâr works with It’s My Shout, a specialist organisation that finds and develops new talent for the film industry in partnership with its broadcast partners, BBC and S4C.
The It’s My Shout awards is a night to celebrate the rising stars, those who are pushing boundaries of storytelling and making Wales a filmmaking powerhouse. With award categories ranging from Best Director to Best Actor, to showcase the very best of Welsh talent.
It wasn’t only nominees in attendance, there were also some familiar faces to be seen; Welsh radio presenter Huw Stephens, actress Melanie Walters, Welsh TikTok stars Ieuan Cooke, Dhean Saur and the Polson twins.
The following students won Best Ensemble cast: Holly-May Davies, Connor Stevens, Steffan Cai Francis, Heidi Press and Max Murphy.
Max said; “It was an honour to achieve this award and have this opportunity, especially being so young.
“Even being part of this was an amazing experience so winning the award was a huge bonus.”
The group were then treated to VIP treatment following their win, with complimentary drinks in a green room, professional pictures and a red carpet. The perfect opportunity for the students to network with other creatives in the industry.
