College students set to compete at WorldSkills and SkillBuild UK national finals
Students from Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion are set to compete in the upcoming WorldSkills UK and SkillsBuild national finals, taking place this week in Manchester and Milton Keynes.
All participating students earned their places by excelling in regional qualifiers, advancing to compete at national level.
WorldSkills UK, an independent charity partnering with employers, educational institutions, and government bodies, aims to elevate standards in apprenticeships and technical education, supporting the success of both young people and employers.
These competitions are designed by industry experts and help young people grow personally and professionally enhancing their technical and employability skills.
Venues across Greater Manchester will host the national finals, which will take place from the 18 to 22 November.
This year, 49 skills areas are featured ranging from industrial robotics to cooking, 3D game design and hairdressing.
WorldSkills UK competitions are a seven-month process, involving regional heats and intensive training, culminating in the national finals where finalists and medallists will be celebrated at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.
Representing Coleg Sir Gâr at the WorldSkills UK competition are Lilly Kendall and Evanna Lewis, competing in Foundation Skills in Health and Social Care, along with Jac Jones, who will compete in Mechanical Engineering CAD.
