Ambulance worker resat GCSEs to progress his career as an EMT
Coleg Ceredigion student Joshua Taylorson decided to resit his GCSEs in maths and English to help develop his career opportunities within the Welsh Ambulance Service.
Joshua, who currently works in patient transport, needed a C grade in maths and English to help him progress as an emergency medical technician (EMT) to work alongside paramedics.
He studied online within an evening class with Coleg Ceredigion from the comfort of his own home and tutors say that he worked extremely hard, submitting a significant amount of work as well as asking for regular advice and guidance to improve his grade.
Joshua Taylorson said: “My tutors Tony and Nick played a massive part in helping me achieve my C grade, providing lots of feedback and advice to help improve my work.
“I’ve achieved the C grade that I wanted, so once jobs are made available, I will be able to progress within the Ambulance Service as an EMT, which with the help of my maths and English, has unlocked a few doors for me.”
