Ammanford Campus
Introduction
Learning activity on the Ammanford campus is focused on health, social and childcare as well as construction industry crafts. The faculty of Health, Social and Childcare run a vast range of higher and further education courses at the campus including NVQs and short courses in counselling. These courses are very popular with students from all walks of life who create a special atmosphere on the campus. This is enhanced by a large presence of entry level students who are taught on independent living skills courses. Their development is supported by excellent on-campus resources such as a kitchen, washroom and garden area.
The construction section delivers courses in bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, painting, decorating, electrical installation and woodtrades. The popularity and success of these courses ensures the campus is always a hive of activity. State of the art workshops have been built to cater for the demand for training and includes a Construction Technology Development & Support Centre purely for SMEs operating in the built environment. A key aspect of the centre is a sustainable and renewable energies facility and the delivery of continuous professional development programmes in association with a number of key partners from both the private and public sectors.
Students past and present have commented that the Ammanford campus is a great place to study as it has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere which makes the student experience a pleasant one. This is reflected in many success stories of student achievement which have earned high accolades and national awards for the teaching across all activities on the campus.
